In the mid-1970s, Philadelphia music entrepreneur Tom Oteri discovered songwriter Richard Fagan, recorded his songs, and championed his move to Nashville. Their company, OF Music (“O” for Oteri, “F” for Fagan), helped place Fagan’s songs with major artists, from Neil Diamond (“The Good Lord Loves You”) to John Michael Montgomery (“Be My Baby Tonight,” “Sold (The Grundy County Auction Incident),” “I Miss You a Little”), and across cuts by George Strait, Patty Loveless, Collin Raye, Shenandoah, and more. After Tom’s passing in 2008, and Richard’s in 2016, Tom’s son now carries the torch through Broadminded Music, preserving and promoting the songs—and the friendship—that powered OF Music.
