History of Broadminded Music

Tom Oteri Sr. was a Philadelphia-born music entrepreneur whose greatest gift was his ability to recognize and nurture talent. In the mid-1970s, he discovered songwriter Richard Fagan and quickly became his most steadfast supporter.   Oteri believed in Fagan’s songs so strongly that he recorded early demos, promoted them tirelessly, and moved with him into the heart of Nashville’s publishing world. Together they founded OF Music—a company named for “Oteri–Fagan”—which went on to place hit songs with some of the biggest names in country and popular music.

Known for his sharp business sense, loyalty, and passion for music, Tom Sr. wasn’t just a publisher—he was a mentor and a partner who understood the delicate balance between artistry and industry. His belief in the power of songs left an indelible mark on Nashville’s songwriting community, and his legacy continues to live on through Broadminded Music, now run by his son.
